Week 2 Sizzle Picks
Full Disclosure Week 1 Report –
Sizzle Picks that made us look good:
Jermaine Gresham – 6 catches, 58 yards, 1 TD
Kevin Kolb – 309 passing yards, 2 TD’s
Reggie Bush – 94 total yards, 9 catches, 1 TD
Sizzle Picks that made us look bad:
Joseph Addai – 52 total yards, 2 catches
Lance Kendricks – 1 catch, 18 yards
Andre Roberts – 2 catches, 21 yards
Rapid Fire Reaction –
The Colts were just awful on offense all day. They fell behind early and never got going.
Lance Kendricks dropped more passes than he caught. He also dropped what appeared to be a sure TD.
It was Early Doucet that saw the targets and production I was expecting from Roberts.
Fizzle Picks that made us look good:
Ben Roethlisberger – 280 passing yards, 1 TD, 3 INT’s
LeGarrette Blount – 15 rushing yards
Chad Ochocinco – 1 catch, 14 yards
Fizzle Picks that made us look bad:
Ray Rice – 149 total yards, 4 catches, 2 TD’s
Miles Austin – 5 catches, 90 yards and 1 TD
Tony Romo – 342 passing yards, 2 TD’s, 1 TD
Rapid Fire Reaction –
Rice totally torched the Steelers D. Rice will not be on the Fizzle list again this season!
Austin’s TD was a questionable call, where he essentially wrestled the ball away from Cromartie on a jump ball. Much like baseball, tie goes to the offense.
From a fantasy perspective Romo lit up the Jets D. From a real QB perspective that wasn’t his best performance.
Each week we’ll pick unobvious names who we believe are slated to SIZZLE, or fated to FIZZLE. Each SIZZLE player must be started in fewer than 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues to qualify. Each FIZZLE player must be started in at least 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues to qualify. Whether, good, bad or ugly, we will post the results the following week.
Week 2 Sizzle Picks
***picks have to be started in LESS than 60% of Yahoo leagues
Matt Stafford – QB (DET) vs. Kansas City
He’s unbelievably only 58% started in Yahoo leagues as of Thursday afternoon! Ryan Fitzpatrick absolutely lit up the Chiefs secondary last week (and that was with Eric Berry in the lineup). Literally, the only concern here is that the Lions get up so fast, so early they don’t throw it.
Rex Grossman – QB (WAS) vs. Arizona
Cam Newton threw all over the Cards last week. Grossman should finish inside the top 10-12 QB’s this week. That makes him a must start. Expect 280 passing yards and 2 TD’s.
“Cadillac” Williams – RB (STL) vs. Giants
Steven Jackson is out for this game. The Caddy filled in nicely for Jackson last week. He had 91 rushing yards and was very active in the passing game totaling 5 catches for 49 yards. The Giants front is pretty banged up. You your key into the Cadillac’s ignition and what the fantasy points rev up!
James Starks – RB (GB) vs. Carolina
He’s one of the week’s most trendy plays. You can most certainly expect a time share this weekend with Starks getting around 15 carries to Grant’s 10. However, Starks seems to be the goal line back. This game could get ugly really fast for the Panthers. I expect Green Bay to get up early and grind this one out. Starks yardage total might be low, but he’s got a very good chance to score at least 1 TD.
Willis McGahee – RB (DEN) vs. Cincinnati
Not the best matchup, but it appears the Moreno won’t suit up this weekend. That leaves McGahee to take the bulk of the carries. He was active in the passing game last week, tallying 5 catches for 32 yards. He should finish with around 80 total yards and another hand full of catches. In other words, he’ll be a good Flex play with RB2 upside.
Johnny Knox – WR (CHI) vs. New Orleans
Roy Williams is banged up and might not play. Know had a serviceable line last week in PPR leagues (3/60). It was nothing special, but he could be in line for additional targets this week. The Packers basically shredded the Saints secondary. You can never rule out a long bomb TD for Knox.
Hines Ward – WR (PIT) vs. Seattle
Ward’s numbers last week were 5/67. You could’ve done a lot worse in PPR leagues! The matchup this week just doesn’t get much better. I think Ward might find the end zone.
Deion Branch – WR (NE) vs. San Diego
Branch is only 23% started. I guess the other 77% of Branch owners didn’t watch the same Monday night game I did! Brandy was terrific and Branch nearly posted 100 yards (93) on 7 catches. This game is going to be a shoot out. Extend the olive Branch and get Deion into your lineup.
Fred Davis – TE (WAS) vs. Kansas City
Davis took advantage of every opportunity last week, netting a line of 5/105. Start with confidence and expect similar this week!
Dustin Keller – TE (NYJ) vs. Jacksonville
Great matchup and he was productive last week (5/61/1). Keller is on the rise for sure. If Sanchez is allowed to throw as much as he did last game, Keller could be in for a monster season.er
Sorry Foks, no Fizzle picks this week! We have just added a brand new member to the @FFSoup team, so I didn’t have time this week. I’ll be up and running full power next week.
